About Fox Canine Services - Working Dog Wellbeing

The Aim

Fox Canine Services is a Herefordshire-based Veterinary Musculoskeletal Therapy and Consultancy service, with a specialism in working with retired, injured, prospective and operational detection, GP and working dogs.

Here at Fox, the key is understanding working dogs, the role they do, and the physical and mental challenges they face.  A knowledge of how they are trained and managed is integrated with a clear understanding of the value of these dogs. The better we manage and look after them, the better their working career and welfare.

About

Rachael graduated as a Registered Veterinary Nurse from Hartpury University in 2008 and subsequently topped up her RVN qualification to a BSc, along with completing her A1 assessor and IQA Internal Verifier qualifications.

After completing the ESVPS NCert-Anaesthesia programme, which involved studying pain and pain medications, Rachael recognised the importance of pain control & rehabbing patients properly after surgery. This led to her becoming an animal musculoskeletal therapist in 2016, after completing the required study.

Since then, Rachael has enjoyed adding to her qualifications,  particularly enjoying exploring the relationship between pain/injury/MSK conditions and canine behaviour, whilst completing a Behaviour and Training Diploma, and her LANTRA Conservation Detection Dog Handler Qualification.

Rachael's skill lies in working with working dog communities and she has a particular interest in rehabilitation and maintenance of these dogs - from operational detection dogs in various sectors/organisations, from PDs/MWDs, security dogs, GP dogs, and Gundogs, to retired or injured working dogs.  She is a team member of Veterinary Task Force - an industry leader in working dog Veterinary Assurance.
